Congratulations to the March Member of the Month: Roger Dewinter! Roger has been a member at 1827 since the day we opened, but CrossFitting long before then. It's hard to miss Roger or not know who he is, from not only being a beast, but his loud grunts while WODing!
Roger competed in our February masters competition, representing CrossFit 1827 against some tough competition, to make the podium in the Rx division! Roger is always quick to introduce himself to anyone he doesn't know and also made the committed club for March, attending over 15 classes!
With Rogers consistency to his rehab work and attendance in classes, Roger has been making huge progress on his skills. Getting his first bar muscle in 19.4 (and getting 2 in total) was one of the biggest highlights of this years Open!
Huge thank you to Popeyes Supplements Guelph for the prize pack for Roger, and Greg at Beech Hill Freight for the clothing sponsorship. If you have any supplement questions or want the best prices and selection in town, make sure to check out Popeyes on Stone Rd across from the mall!
How did you get into CrossFit:
Sue actually introduced me to CrossFit. I was making fun of how much pain she was in after each class, so she challenged me to try it. I actually needed something to get me more physical and raise my heart rate. CrossFit has allowed me to stay clear of blood pressure medication. Literally has saved my life.
Favourite Class Time to attend:
Saturday morning, but evenings work best for my body.
Getting back to it after my long recovery of back rehab. 19.4 my 1st bar muscle up, Carly and Ambers reaction to my BMU. Hugging Mitch. Doughnut eating contest with Pat and Morgan, and everyone else that enjoyed the doughnuts. Sharing in the challenges of each and every WOD with the 1827 members and the energy in the air.
Least Favourite Movement(s):
Being away from CrossFit for 3 months because I was too busy. Prior to that I missed 6 months due to back rehab, I had a back injury occur 25 years ago which yielded its ugly head 2 years ago and sent me to emerge.
Favourite Cheat Meal/Food:
Any goodie that Sue makes
