Congratulations to the February Member of the Month: Greg Cox! Greg joined us last November and since then has been a staple of the noon class. In the few short months Greg has been with us, he has become a sponsor for our Member of the Month, as well as a title sponsor of our Masters Event, which thanks to his generous donation we were able to fundraise for the purchase of our AED.
Greg is the owner of Beech Hill Freight, a freight brokerage company based in Guelph, but he likes to see his logo on shirts and donate those to members and events around 1827, which is why most classes you will see someone wearing a Beech Hill shirt. Thanks to his shirt donations he was able to raise over $350 for the Coldest Night of the Year in support of Lakeside Hope House! Being a member for just under 4 months Greg has made a very positive impact in our community, both inside and outside of the gym!
With his consistency in attendance, Greg has been making large gains in his major lifts, as well as improving his gymnastics skills and double unders. We were able to twist his arm into joining our masters competition in February and he placed second! Riding the podium finish from the event Greg signed up for his first CrossFit Open!
Huge thank you to Popeyes Supplements Guelph for the prize pack for Greg. If you have any supplement questions or want the best prices and selection in town, make sure to check them out on Stone Rd across from the mall!
How did you get into CrossFit:
I was introduced to it by Mark and Megan Finnie and inspired to try myself after watching them sweat it out in their driveway (garage gym) all last summer.
Favourite Class Time to attend:
I really like the noon class and crew, and the Sunday Stability class when I get a chance to go.
Hard to say, but mostly any barbell movement (presses or squats probably).
Least Favourite Movement(s):
Burpees and Manmakers.
Favourite Cheat Meal/Food:
I don’t have a sweet tooth, so I’m good there. Favourite food is anything BBQ’d and Pizza (Manhattans).
